Dr. Treen received his medical degree with honors from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency training in General Surgery at Alton Ochsner Foundation Hospital and Clinic, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He holds a faculty appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at Tulane School of Medicine and has served as Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at West Jefferson Medical Center. Dr. Treen has over 30 years of practice experience and serves as the Medical Director of the Hernia Institute of Louisiana. He has been a member of the American Hernia Society since 1999 and in 2009 was elected to serve on its Board of Governors.

Dr. Treen has lectured as an invited speaker and visiting professor on hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction at medical schools, hospitals, and surgical meetings throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Europe, Japan, China, and Thailand.
Dr. Treen has been a leader in the field of general surgery for many years. His skills in advanced laparoscopic surgery are widely recognized as among the best in the country. His work has appeared in numerous publications and presentations regarding recent surgical advances.
Actively involved with many local and professional organizations, Dr. Treen is a member of:

- Surgical Association of Louisiana (former member of the board of directors)
